A Call For Bapuji
(written on 03-10-02)
Bapuji, Why you have arrived that much before?
Today we need you even more.
Politicians are concerned with only the vote,
Police and criminals are sailing in same boat.
No voice is reaching up to the leaders,
Laws are special for rich,money-makers!
Ministers are busy with their starched dresses,
Can't you see the stunned Indian faces ?
Bureaucrats are lying,
Hopes are flying,
Poor are crying,
Farmers are dying.
Common Indian man is left alone,
Nothing else but he is following your “Moun”.
Oh! Bapu! What else you want to know ?
Come! Please guide us where to go ?
Your own nation is in great pain,
If it is possible, come back again.

Saw this movie yesterday, some quotes are here.
One of the most likeable quotes, your post reminded me is, "The kingdom of God is within you and all around you. It is not within buildings of wood or stone. Split a piece of wood and you will find me. Look beneath a stone and I am there.".
Ab aaj Baapu aa bhi gaye to kya karenge - aakar updesh hi de sakte hai - he cannot make people listen to their own conscience! Brainwashing & changing minds is moral policing which I wish no one does, not even Baapu, if he wants to!
PS: mind you I'm a staunch atheist - so I'd call it kingdom of goodness rather than of god :D

Its very difficult to tell that what will be effect of his doctrine on masses even if Bapu comes today.
In fact his whole philosophy & working methodology is known to us. Its duty of every true Gandhian to adopt his principals in such a way that suits present situation.

Its never completely about a leader, but (IMHO) its largely about the populace!
No leader can make ppl walk HIS way, but can only show them the destination, its only the will inside people that make them walk their own ways to the destination!
In today's age the relevance of Baapu, our (youth's) needs & the understandings levels have changed a lot - Bappu won't be able to make sense, leave alone influencing masses!
I dont know ANYONE who will show me another cheek if I slap one!
I dont ANYONE for whom more than a couple of dozen people will bear anything if he fasts unto death.
Attention spam & feeling of belonging are very less today! My generation only understands marketing, consumerism and his-mine-yours kind of concepts - I wonder if even GOD can change such ways of living!

I was wondering dear...how come no one remembered Bapu...in all this midst of life...:)
Good to see this here. But Bapu aate to kya hota...I guess bahut kuch waisa nahi hota jo pehale hua hai :)...people understand there rights and hence will try to use his principles accordingly as per today's situation...but its very difficult ke oonke aate hee sab kuch thik ho jayega
cheers
